Forensic Toxicology
Forensic Toxicology is a branch of Forensic Medicine dealing with Medical and Legal aspects of the harmful effects of chemicals on human or animal. Forensic Toxicology involves analysis of biological samples such as blood stains, urine, vomit and hair etc. to check for the presence of toxins and drugs. This branch of forensic science is of prime importance in road accidents, poisoning, sexual violence etc. The toxicology reports furnish key information about the nature of substances present in an individual pertaining to an incidence. It also determines whether the quantity of substances is normal as per a therapeutic dosage or exceeds the permissible level. Poisons, being very vast subject, are broadly classified as Corrosive Poisons, Metallic Poisons, Corrosive Poisons, Insecticides, Pesticides, Plant Poisons, Animal Poisons, Somniferous Poisons, Inebriants and Miscellaneous etc.
